Suggestions for a new monitor

Hi

I need to buy a new monitor for my PC. There was a post earlier about LCD monitor but it seems no one answered.

What is your opinion - which is better - CRT or LCD?
I had read some good reviews about the HP 24" LCD but that's too expensive(About 47K!). Any suggestions? I think about 19" to 22" should be okay for me.
What choices do you suggest, considering the availability in India.

Great question.

I am wondering how long we will be able to get CRTs at all. I know that I like my old Sony CRT better than the screen on this laptop I'm tapping away on just now.

Maybe the experts will step in and enlighten us.

Mine is also a Sony. And it is painful to see it dying a slow death! It was a great monitor.
I was hoping to see a lot of replies and discussion on this subject since I feel it more relevant now than ever.
