Greetings Forum.

Here is a link to a six minute video clip from England's "The Gadget Show," wherein digital and film are put up against each other. The setup for each includes using the same studio, same photographer, the very same lens, same format size, same subjects, same lighting, same ISO. Then the results were blown up to billboard size and hung side by side on a building for comparison.

Be patient. There are two short ads before the clip.

Are you surprised at the reported results? Is there anything about the test that should have been done differently, in your opinion, to show each within its best performance envelope?

Hi Guys.

I suspect that Ken Rockwell would have come up with a different conclusion about such a test.

He says that it is possible to get 175 MP "RealRaw" files like this one he shot with Fuji Velvia:

Will the emergence of high quality scanners change the paradigm for shooting with film? Or is it all over now because of digital's stronger hold on imaging, and the now lower demand for film? Ken is surprisingly supportive of shooting good film in fine cameras. He's a guy who can have any camera he wants, and in fact has many of the best cameras ever made... film and digital.

What say?
